(2) 아하시야가 왕이 되었을 때의 나이는 사십이 세였습니다. 그는 예루살렘에서 일 년 동안, 다스렸습니다. 그의 어머니는 오므리의 손녀인 아달랴입니다.

(2) Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Athaliah, a granddaughter of Omri.

(3) 아하시야도 역시 아합의 집안 사람들처럼 악한 일을 하며 살았습니다. 그의 어머니가 그를 부추겨 악한 일을 하게 했기 때문입니다.

(3) He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother was his adviser [and she encouraged him] to act wickedly.

(4) 아하시야는 아합의 집안처럼 여호와께서 보시기에 악한 일을 했습니다. 아하시야의 아버지가 죽은 뒤, 아합의 집안 사람들이 아하시야에게 나쁜 충고를 해 주었기 때문에 아하시야도 죽게 되었습니다.

(4) So he did evil in the sight of the LORD like the house of Ahab, for they were his advisers after the death of his father, resulting in his destruction.

(5) 아하시야는 그들의 충고를 받아들여 아람 왕 하사엘과 싸우러 나갔습니다. 아합의 아들인 이스라엘 왕 요람도 그와 함께 싸우러 나갔습니다. 그들은 길르앗 라못에서 하사엘을 만났습니다. 그 싸움에서 아람 사람들이 요람에게 부상을 입혔습니다.

(5) {Ahaziah Allies with Jehoram of Israel}He also walked in accordance with their advice, and he went with Jehoram the son of Ahab king of Israel to wage war against Hazael king of Aram (Syria) at Ramoth-gilead. And the Arameans wounded Joram (Jehoram).

(6) 요람은 길르앗에서 아람 왕 하사엘과 싸우다가 입은 상처를 치료하려고 이스르엘로 돌아왔습니다. 유다의 왕 아하시야가 부상을 당한 아합의 아들 요람을 보려고, 이스르엘로 내려갔습니다.

(6) Then he returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds they had inflicted on him at Ramah when he fought against Hazael king of Aram. And Ahaziah, the son of Jehoram king of Judah, went down to see Jehoram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.

(7) 그 곳에서 아하시야는 죽게 되었는데, 이는 하나님께서 계획하신 일입니다. 아하시야는 요람에게 갔다가 요람과 함께 임시의 아들 예후를 만나게 되었습니다. 예후는 여호와께서 아합의 집안을 멸망시키기 위해 세운 사람입니다.

(7) But the downfall of Ahaziah was ordained by God, in that he went to Joram (Jehoram). For when he arrived there he went out [as an ally] with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom the LORD had anointed to destroy the house of Ahab.

(8) 예후는 아합의 집안을 징벌하다가, 유다의 지도자들과 아하시야를 섬기던 아하시야의 친척들을 보고 그들도 죽였습니다.

(8) {Jehu Murders Leaders of Judah}It came about that when Jehu was executing judgment on the house of Ahab, he found the leaders of Judah and the sons of Ahaziah's [murdered] brothers ministering to Ahaziah, and he killed them.

(9) 그런 뒤에 예후는 아하시야를 찾았습니다. 예후의 부하들이 사마리아에 숨어 있던 아하시야를 붙잡아 예후에게 데려왔습니다. 그들은 아하시야를 죽이고 그 시체를 묻어 주며, “아하시야는 여호사밧의 자손이다. 여호사밧은 마음을 다해 여호와를 찾았다”고 말했습니다. 이제 아하시야의 집안에는 유다 나라를 다스릴 만한 사람이 하나도 없게 되었습니다.

(9) Jehu also searched for Ahaziah, who was hiding in Samaria; he was captured, brought to Jehu, and put to death. They buried him, for they said, "After all, he is the grandson of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with all his heart." So the house of Ahaziah had no one left to retain the power to rule over the kingdom.

(10) 아하시야의 어머니 아달랴는 자기 아들이 죽은 것을 보고, 유다에 있는 왕의 집안 사람들을 다 죽이기 시작했습니다.

(10) Now when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she rose and destroyed all the royal family of the house of Judah.

(11) 그러나 여호사브앗은 아하시야의 아들 요아스가 죽임을 당하기 바로 전에 그를 구해 냈습니다. 여호사브앗은 요아스와 그의 유모를 침실에 숨겼습니다. 여호사브앗은 여호람 왕의 딸이자, 아하시야의 누이입니다. 또한 여호사브앗은 제사장 여호야다의 아내이기도 합니다. 여호사브앗이 요아스를 숨겼기 때문에 아달랴는 요아스를 죽일 수 없었습니다.

(11) But Jehoshabeath, the king's daughter, took Joash the [infant] son of Ahaziah and stole him away from among the king's sons who were being put to death, and she placed him and his nurse in the bedroom. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of King Jehoram [of Judah] and wife of Jehoiada the priest, hid Joash from [his grandmother] Athaliah so that she did not murder him (for Jehoshabeath was the sister of Ahaziah).

(12) 요아스는 그들과 함께 육 년 동안, 하나님의 성전에 숨어 있었습니다. 그 동안에 아달랴가 그 땅을 다스렸습니다.

(12) Joash was hidden with them in the house (temple) of God for six years, and Athaliah reigned over the land.
