(1) Anggur adalah pencemooh, minuman keras adalah peribut, tidaklah bijak orang yang terhuyung-huyung karenanya.
(1) 포도주를 마시면 우쭐해지고, 독주를 마시면 싸움질을 한다. 이것들에 빠진 자는 지혜가 없다.
(1) {On Life and Conduct}Wine is a mocker, strong drink a riotous brawler; And whoever is intoxicated by it is not wise.
(2) Kegentaran yang datang dari raja adalah seperti raung singa muda, siapa membangkitkan marahnya membahayakan dirinya.
(2) 왕의 진노는 사자의 부르짖음과 같고, 왕을 화나게 하면 생명을 잃는다.
(2) The terror of a king is like the roaring of a lion; Whoever provokes him to anger forfeits his own life.
(3) Terhormatlah seseorang, jika ia menjauhi perbantahan, tetapi setiap orang bodoh membiarkan amarahnya meledak.
(3) 다툼을 피하는 것은 영예로운 일이나, 미련한 자는 조급히 싸우려 든다.
(3) It is an honor for a man to keep away from strife [by handling situations with thoughtful foresight], But any fool will [start a] quarrel [without regard for the consequences].
(4) Pada musim dingin si pemalas tidak membajak; jikalau ia mencari pada musim menuai, maka tidak ada apa-apa.
(4) 게으른 사람은 농사철에 쟁기질을 안 하니, 추수 때에 거두려고 해도 거둘 것이 없다.
(4) The lazy man does not plow when the winter [planting] season arrives; So he begs at the [next] harvest and has nothing [to reap].
(5) Rancangan di dalam hati manusia itu seperti air yang dalam, tetapi orang yang pandai tahu menimbanya.
(5) 사람의 마음에 세운 계획들은 깊은 물과 같지만, 명철한 사람은 그것도 알아챈다.
(5) A plan (motive, wise counsel) in the heart of a man is like water in a deep well, But a man of understanding draws it out.
(6) Banyak orang menyebut diri baik hati, tetapi orang yang setia, siapakah menemukannya?
(6) 사람들은 저마다 자기가 신실하다고 하지만, 누가 신실한 사람을 찾을 수 있을까?
(6) Many a man proclaims his own loyalty and goodness, But who can find a faithful and trustworthy man?
(7) Orang benar yang bersih kelakuannya--berbahagialah keturunannya.
(7) 의인은 흠 없는 삶을 살고, 그의 후손들은 복되다.
(7) The righteous man who walks in integrity and lives life in accord with his [godly] beliefs— How blessed [happy and spiritually secure] are his children after him [who have his example to follow].
(8) Raja yang bersemayam di atas kursi pengadilan dapat mengetahui segala yang jahat dengan matanya.
(8) 판사 자리에 앉은 왕은 죄인을 한눈에 알아본다.
(8) A [discerning] king who sits on the throne of judgment Sifts all evil [like chaff] with his eyes [and cannot be easily fooled].
(9) Siapakah dapat berkata: "Aku telah membersihkan hatiku, aku tahir dari pada dosaku?"
(9) “나는 마음이 깨끗하다, 나는 정결하여 죄가 없다”고 주장할 사람이 있겠는가?
(9) Who can say, "I have cleansed my heart, I am pure from my sin?"
(10) Dua macam batu timbangan, dua macam takaran, kedua-duanya adalah kekejian bagi TUHAN.
(10) 정확하지 않은 저울추나 되들은 여호와께서 미워하신다.
(10) Differing weights [one for buying and another for selling] and differing measures, Both of them are detestable and offensive to the LORD.
(11) Anak-anakpun sudah dapat dikenal dari pada perbuatannya, apakah bersih dan jujur kelakuannya.
(11) 아이일지라도 그 행동으로 자신들의 깨끗함과 옳음을 나타낸다.
(11) Even a boy is known and distinguished by his acts, Whether his conduct is pure and right.
(12) Telinga yang mendengar dan mata yang melihat, kedua-duanya dibuat oleh TUHAN.
(12) 듣는 귀와 보는 눈은 모두 여호와께서 만드셨다.
(12) The hearing ear and the seeing eye, The [omnipotent] LORD has made both of them.
(13) Janganlah menyukai tidur, supaya engkau tidak jatuh miskin, bukalah matamu dan engkau akan makan sampai kenyang.
(13) 잠자기를 좋아하면 가난해진다. 깨어 있어라. 그러면 쌓아 둘 양식이 생길 것이다.
(13) Do not love [excessive] sleep, or you will become poor; Open your eyes [so that you can do your work] and you will be satisfied with bread.
(14) "Tidak baik! Tidak baik!", kata si pembeli, tetapi begitu ia pergi, ia memuji dirinya.
(14) 물건을 살 때는 “이것도 별로군요, 저것도 별로군요”라고 하지만, 산 다음에는 자기가 산 물건을 자랑한다.
(14) "It is [almost] worthless, it is [almost] worthless," says the buyer [as he negotiates the price]; But when he goes his way, then he boasts [about his bargain].
(15) Sekalipun ada emas dan permata banyak, tetapi yang paling berharga ialah bibir yang berpengetahuan.
(15) 세상에는 금과 귀한 보석들이 많지만, 지식을 말하는 입이 가장 귀한 보물이다.
(15) There is gold, and an abundance of pearls, But the lips of knowledge are a vessel of preciousness [the most precious of all].
(16) Ambillah pakaian orang yang menanggung orang lain, dan tahanlah dia sebagai sandera ganti orang asing.
(16) 타인을 위해 보증 서는 사람의 의복을 취하여라. 다른 지방 사람을 위해 보증 섰다면 꼭 그 사람을 잡아 두어라.
(16) [The judge tells the creditor], "Take the clothes of one who is surety for a stranger; And hold him in pledge [when he guarantees a loan] for foreigners."
(17) Roti hasil tipuan sedap rasanya, tetapi kemudian mulutnya penuh dengan kerikil.
(17) 속여서 얻은 음식은 정말 맛있는 것 같지만, 나중에는 입 안에 자갈이 가득할 것이다.
(17) Food gained by deceit is sweet to a man, But afterward his mouth will be filled with gravel [just as sin may be sweet at first, but later its consequences bring despair].
(18) Rancangan terlaksana oleh pertimbangan, sebab itu berperanglah dengan siasat.
(18) 조언을 듣고 계획을 세워라. 전쟁을 하려면 지혜로운 조언을 들어라.
(18) Plans are established by counsel; So make war [only] with wise guidance.
(19) Siapa mengumpat, membuka rahasia, sebab itu janganlah engkau bergaul dengan orang yang bocor mulut.
(19) 수다쟁이는 비밀을 누설하니 피하여라.
(19) He who goes about as a gossip reveals secrets; Therefore do not associate with a gossip [who talks freely or flatters].
(20) Siapa mengutuki ayah atau ibunya, pelitanya akan padam pada waktu gelap.
(20) 자기 부모를 저주하는 자의 등불은 캄캄함 중에 꺼질 것이다.
(20) Whoever curses his father or his mother, His lamp [of life] will be extinguished in time of darkness.
(21) Milik yang diperoleh dengan cepat pada mulanya, akhirnya tidak diberkati.
(21) 일확천금은 결과적으로 복이 되지 아니한다.
(21) An inheritance hastily gained [by greedy, unjust means] at the beginning Will not be blessed in the end.
(22) Janganlah engkau berkata: "Aku akan membalas kejahatan," nantikanlah TUHAN, Ia akan menyelamatkan engkau.
(22) “내가 이 모욕을 갚으리라”고 말하지 말고, 여호와를 기다려라. 그러면 그분이 너를 구원해 주실 것이다.
(22) Do not say, "I will repay evil"; Wait [expectantly] for the LORD, and He will rescue and save you.
(23) Dua macam batu timbangan adalah kekejian bagi TUHAN, dan neraca serong itu tidak baik.
(23) 속이는 저울추는 여호와께서 미워하신다. 부정확한 저울들도 좋아하지 않으신다.
(23) Differing weights are detestable and offensive to the LORD, And fraudulent scales are not good.
(24) Langkah orang ditentukan oleh TUHAN, tetapi bagaimanakah manusia dapat mengerti jalan hidupnya?
(24) 사람의 가는 길을 여호와께서 인도하시니, 사람이 어찌 자기 앞길을 알랴!
(24) Man's steps are ordered and ordained by the LORD. How then can a man [fully] understand his way?
(25) Suatu jerat bagi manusia ialah kalau ia tanpa berpikir mengatakan "Kudus", dan baru menimbang-nimbang sesudah bernazar.
(25) 조급하게 “이것을 주님께 바치리라”고 서원하면, 나중에 후회할 수 있다.
(25) It is a trap for a man to [speak a vow of consecration and] say rashly, "It is holy!" And [not until] afterward consider [whether he can fulfill it].
(26) Raja yang bijak dapat mengenal orang-orang fasik, dan menggilas mereka berulang-ulang.
(26) 지혜로운 왕은 죄인을 분별해 내니, 탈곡기에 그들을 돌리는 것과 같다.
(26) A wise king sifts out the wicked [from among the good] And drives the [threshing] wheel over them [to separate the chaff from the grain].
(27) Roh manusia adalah pelita TUHAN, yang menyelidiki seluruh lubuk hatinya.
(27) 여호와의 등불이 사람의 영을 비추니, 그것이 사람의 마음속을 드러낸다.
(27) The spirit (conscience) of man is the lamp of the LORD, Searching and examining all the innermost parts of his being.
(28) Kasih dan setia melindungi raja, dan dengan kasih ia menopang takhtanya.
(28) 왕은 변하지 않는 사랑과 신실함으로 강대해지고, 사랑을 통해 왕위가 견고해진다.
(28) Loyalty and mercy, truth and faithfulness, protect the king, And he upholds his throne by lovingkindness.
(29) Hiasan orang muda ialah kekuatannya, dan keindahan orang tua ialah uban.
(29) 젊은이의 영광은 그 힘이지만, 노인의 영광은 백발이다.
(29) The glory of young men is their [physical] strength, And the honor of aged men is their gray head [representing wisdom and experience].
(30) Bilur-bilur yang berdarah membersihkan kejahatan, dan pukulan membersihkan lubuk hati.
(30) 상처를 입히도록 때려야 죄를 저지를 생각을 안 하고, 매질은 마음속까지 청소한다.
(30) Blows that wound cleanse away evil, And strokes reach to the innermost parts.
