3:1-16 = Hari Tuhan
(1) Saudara-saudara yang kekasih, ini sudah surat yang kedua, yang kutulis kepadamu. Di dalam kedua surat itu aku berusaha menghidupkan pengertian yang murni oleh peringatan-peringatan,
(1) 사랑하는 여러분, 지금 나는 여러분에게 두 번째 편지를 쓰고 있습니다. 이 편지들이 여러분의 정직하고 진실한 마음을 일깨우는 데에 도움이 되었으면 좋겠습니다.
(1) {Purpose of This Letter}Beloved, I am now writing you this second letter. In this [as in the first one], I am stirring up your untainted mind to remind you,
(2) supaya kamu mengingat akan perkataan yang dahulu telah diucapkan oleh nabi-nabi kudus dan mengingat akan perintah Tuhan dan Juruselamat yang telah disampaikan oleh rasul-rasulmu kepadamu.
(2) 옛날 거룩한 예언자들이 전한 말씀과 구주되신 우리 주님께서 사도들을 통해 우리에게 주신 명령을 기억하기 바랍니다.
(2) that you should remember the words spoken in the past [about the future] by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior given by your apostles [His personally chosen representatives].
(3) Yang terutama harus kamu ketahui ialah, bahwa pada hari-hari zaman akhir akan tampil pengejek-pengejek dengan ejekan-ejekannya, yaitu orang-orang yang hidup menuruti hawa nafsunya.
(3) 마지막 때에 어떤 일이 일어날지 분명히 아십시오. 사람들이 자기들 하고 싶은 대로 악한 일을 하며, 여러분을 비웃을 것입니다.
(3) {The Coming Day of the Lord}First of all, know [without any doubt] that mockers will come in the last days with their mocking, following after their own human desires
(4) Kata mereka: "Di manakah janji tentang kedatangan-Nya itu? Sebab sejak bapa-bapa leluhur kita meninggal, segala sesuatu tetap seperti semula, pada waktu dunia diciptakan."
(4) 그들은 “다시 온다고 약속한 예수는 도대체 어디 있습니까? 우리 조상들은 죽었고, 이 세상은 창조된 후로 달라진 게 없지 않습니까?”라고 말할 것입니다.
(4) and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming [what has become of it]? For ever since the fathers fell asleep [in death], all things have continued [exactly] as they did from the beginning of creation."
(5) Mereka sengaja tidak mau tahu, bahwa oleh firman Allah langit telah ada sejak dahulu, dan juga bumi yang berasal dari air dan oleh air,
(5) 그들은 옛적에 하나님께서 말씀으로 하늘과 땅을 지으시고, 또한 땅이 물에서 나와 물로 이루어진 것을 일부러 잊으려고 합니다.
(5) For they willingly forget [the fact] that the heavens existed long ago by the word of God, and the earth was formed out of water and by water,
(6) dan bahwa oleh air itu, bumi yang dahulu telah binasa, dimusnahkan oleh air bah.
(6) 그후, 하나님께서 세상을 홍수로 멸하셨습니다.
(6) through which the world at that time was destroyed by being flooded with water.
(7) Tetapi oleh firman itu juga langit dan bumi yang sekarang terpelihara dari api dan disimpan untuk hari penghakiman dan kebinasaan orang-orang fasik.
(7) 또한 동일한 하나님의 말씀이 지금 이 세상의 하늘과 땅을 지키고 있습니다. 우리가 살고 있는 이 세상은 불로 멸망당할 것인데, 마지막 심판날에 하나님을 믿지 않고 거역한 사람들과 함께 멸망될 것입니다.
(7) But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly people.
(8) Akan tetapi, saudara-saudaraku yang kekasih, yang satu ini tidak boleh kamu lupakan, yaitu, bahwa di hadapan Tuhan satu hari sama seperti seribu tahun dan seribu tahun sama seperti satu hari.
(8) 그러나 사랑하는 여러분, 이 한 가지만은 잊지 마십시오. 주님께는 하루가 천 년 같고, 천 년이 하루와도 같습니다.
(8) Nevertheless, do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like one day.
(9) Tuhan tidak lalai menepati janji-Nya, sekalipun ada orang yang menganggapnya sebagai kelalaian, tetapi Ia sabar terhadap kamu, karena Ia menghendaki supaya jangan ada yang binasa, melainkan supaya semua orang berbalik dan bertobat.
(9) 우리 주님은 하시기로 약속하신 것을 뒤로 미루시는 분이 아닙니다. 어떤 사람들은 더디다고 생각할지도 모릅니다. 그러나 이것은 하나님께서 우리를 위해 오래 참으시기 때문입니다. 하나님께서는 한 사람이라도 멸망치 않고 모두 회개하고 돌아오기를 바라고 계십니다.
(9) The Lord does not delay [as though He were unable to act] and is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is [extraordinarily] patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
(10) Tetapi hari Tuhan akan tiba seperti pencuri. Pada hari itu langit akan lenyap dengan gemuruh yang dahsyat dan unsur-unsur dunia akan hangus dalam nyala api, dan bumi dan segala yang ada di atasnya akan hilang lenyap.
(10) 하지만 주님의 날은 도적같이 갑자기 올 것입니다. 하늘이 큰 소리를 내며 사라지고, 하늘에 있는 모든 것들이 불에 의해 녹을 것입니다. 또한 땅과 땅에 있는 모든 것들도 불타 버릴 것입니다.
(10) {A New Heaven and Earth}But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will vanish with a [mighty and thunderous] roar, and the [material] elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and the works that are on it will be burned up.
(11) Jadi, jika segala sesuatu ini akan hancur secara demikian, betapa suci dan salehnya kamu harus hidup
(11) 모든 것이 이렇게 다 타 버릴 텐데, 여러분은 어떤 사람이 되어야 하겠습니까? 거룩하고 경건하게 살아야 하지 않겠습니까?
(11) Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be [in the meantime] in holy behavior [that is, in a pattern of daily life that sets you apart as a believer] and in godliness [displaying profound reverence toward our awesome God],
(12) yaitu kamu yang menantikan dan mempercepat kedatangan hari Allah. Pada hari itu langit akan binasa dalam api dan unsur-unsur dunia akan hancur karena nyalanya.
(12) 여러분은 그 날이 오기를 손꼽아 기다려야 합니다. 그 날에 하늘과 하늘에 있는 모든 것이 불타 없어지겠지만,
(12) [while you earnestly] look for and await the coming of the day of God. For on this day the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the [material] elements will melt with intense heat!
(13) Tetapi sesuai dengan janji-Nya, kita menantikan langit yang baru dan bumi yang baru, di mana terdapat kebenaran.
(13) 하나님께서는 우리에게 약속하셨습니다. 정의가 살아 있는 새 하늘과 새 땅을 우리에게 주시겠다고 말입니다.
(13) But in accordance with His promise we expectantly await new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.
(14) Sebab itu, saudara-saudaraku yang kekasih, sambil menantikan semuanya ini, kamu harus berusaha, supaya kamu kedapatan tak bercacat dan tak bernoda di hadapan-Nya, dalam perdamaian dengan Dia.
(14) 사랑하는 여러분, 그 날을 기다리며 죄를 멀리하고 흠없이 살도록 노력하십시오. 하나님과 평안 가운데 거하시기 바랍니다.
(14) So, beloved, since you are looking forward to these things, be diligent and make every effort to be found by Him [at His return] spotless and blameless, in peace [that is, inwardly calm with a sense of spiritual well-being and confidence, having lived a life of obedience to Him].
(15) Anggaplah kesabaran Tuhan kita sebagai kesempatan bagimu untuk beroleh selamat, seperti juga Paulus, saudara kita yang kekasih, telah menulis kepadamu menurut hikmat yang dikaruniakan kepadanya.
(15) 우리 주님의 오래 참으심으로 우리가 구원 받았다는 사실을 잊지 마시기 바랍니다. 사랑하는 형제 바울도 하나님께 받은 지혜로 이와 같은 편지를 여러분에게 보냈습니다.
(15) And consider the patience of our Lord [His delay in judging and avenging wrongs] as salvation [that is, allowing time for more to be saved]; just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given to him [by God],
(16) Hal itu dibuatnya dalam semua suratnya, apabila ia berbicara tentang perkara-perkara ini. Dalam surat-suratnya itu ada hal-hal yang sukar difahami, sehingga orang-orang yang tidak memahaminya dan yang tidak teguh imannya, memutarbalikkannya menjadi kebinasaan mereka sendiri, sama seperti yang juga mereka buat dengan tulisan-tulisan yang lain.
(16) 바울이 그의 편지 가운데 이 모든 것을 써 놓았습니다. 그의 편지 가운데 이해하기 힘든 부분이 조금 있어, 몇몇 사람들이 그것을 잘못 설명하기도 하였습니다. 무식하고 믿음이 약한 사람들은 다른 성경도 잘못 해석합니다. 그러나 이것은 그들에게 스스로 멸망을 불러들일 뿐입니다.
(16) speaking about these things as he does in all of his letters. In which there are some things that are difficult to understand, which the untaught and unstable [who have fallen into error] twist and misinterpret, just as they do the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.
3:17-18 = Penutup
(17) Tetapi kamu, saudara-saudaraku yang kekasih, kamu telah mengetahui hal ini sebelumnya. Karena itu waspadalah, supaya kamu jangan terseret ke dalam kesesatan orang-orang yang tak mengenal hukum, dan jangan kehilangan peganganmu yang teguh.
(17) 사랑하는 여러분, 이제 이 모든 것을 알았으니 부디 조심하십시오. 악한 자들의 꾀임에 빠져 잘못된 길에 들어서지 말며, 굳건한 믿음에서 떨어지지 않도록 주의하십시오.
(17) Therefore, [let me warn you] beloved, knowing these things beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men [who distort doctrine] and fall from your own steadfastness [of mind, knowledge, truth, and faith],
(18) Tetapi bertumbuhlah dalam kasih karunia dan dalam pengenalan akan Tuhan dan Juruselamat kita, Yesus Kristus. Bagi-Nya kemuliaan, sekarang dan sampai selama-lamanya.
(18) 오직 우리 구주 예수 그리스도를 아는 지식과 그의 은혜 가운데 자라나기를 빕니다. 이제부터 영원까지 주님께 영광이 있기를 바랍니다. 아멘.
(18) but grow [spiritually mature] in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory (honor, majesty, splendor), both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
